This Policy applies to the Five Experts website, platform, membership, acquisition-search services, research services, community, Expert bench, Candidate and operator introductions, and other services that link to this Policy.
The information we collect depends on how you interact with Five Experts.
We may collect information you provide directly to us, including:
name, email address, telephone number, company, and job title;
account and profile information;
acquisition criteria, buy boxes, investment preferences, geographic preferences, and search information;
information about companies, owners, acquisition opportunities, and transactions you share with us;
Expert, Candidate, and operator profiles, resumes, professional experience, rates, availability, and related information;
communications with Five Experts;
information you provide through forms, surveys, events, meetings, or the Five Experts Community; and
billing and transaction information.
Payments are processed by third-party payment providers such as Stripe. Five Experts may receive information about a transaction, such as payment status and billing details, but does not need to store complete payment-card information when that information is processed directly by the payment provider.
When you use our website or platform, we and our service providers may automatically collect information such as:
IP address;
browser and device information;
pages viewed and features used;
referring pages;
approximate location derived from an IP address;
dates and times of visits; and
cookies and similar technologies.
Five Experts may receive information from other sources, including:
public websites and public records;
commercial data and research providers;
professional networking and business-information services;
Members, Experts, Candidates, business owners, and other users;
referral and business partners; and
service providers used to support our research and services.
Our acquisition-search services may involve researching companies, owners, executives, and other business contacts using public and commercial business information.
We may use personal information to:
create and manage accounts;
provide Five Experts memberships and services;
understand and maintain a Member's acquisition criteria and buy box;
conduct company and market research;
identify and verify potential acquisition targets;
identify and contact business owners or representatives;
match Members with Experts, Candidates, operators, lenders, or other relevant professionals;
facilitate introductions, bookings, and engagements;
operate the Five Experts Community;
process payments and administer subscriptions;
communicate about accounts, services, transactions, events, and support requests;
improve our platform, research processes, products, and services;
protect Five Experts, our Members, and our platform against misuse, fraud, or security threats;
enforce our Terms of Service and other agreements;
comply with legal obligations; and
send marketing or informational communications where permitted by law.
We may also use aggregated or de-identified information for research, analytics, service improvement, and business purposes.
We may disclose personal information when reasonably necessary to operate Five Experts and provide our services.
This may include disclosure to:
Service providers. We may use companies that provide hosting, software, communications, analytics, research, payment processing, customer management, data, security, and other services.
Members, Experts, Candidates, and operators. We may share information when necessary to facilitate a requested match, introduction, booking, search, or engagement.
For example, we may share an Expert's profile with a Member when we believe there is a potential fit. We may share information about a Member's needs with an Expert or Candidate as necessary to evaluate a potential engagement.
Business owners and acquisition contacts. When conducting authorized acquisition-search or owner-outreach services for a Member, we may disclose appropriate information about the Member or the Member's acquisition interests to a potential business owner or representative.
Professional and business partners. At your request or when appropriate to provide a service, we may facilitate introductions to lenders, attorneys, accountants, consultants, or other professional providers.
Legal and compliance purposes. We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, protect legal rights, investigate fraud or misuse, or protect the safety and security of Five Experts and others.
Business transactions. If Five Experts is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar transaction, information may be disclosed as part of that transaction subject to applicable law.
Five Experts does not sell Member acquisition theses, confidential target lists, transaction information, Expert profiles, Candidate information, or confidential business-owner information to data brokers.
An important part of Five Experts' services involves researching privately held companies and the people associated with them.
We may collect business-related information about owners, executives, employees, and other business contacts from public sources, commercial data providers, company websites, professional networking services, referrals, and other reasonably available sources.
We use this information to perform company research, verify businesses, develop acquisition target universes, identify appropriate contacts, and conduct acquisition-related outreach.
Being included in Five Experts research does not mean that Five Experts considers a business to be for sale or that the business owner has agreed to participate in an acquisition process.
Business owners and contacts may ask us to correct their information or discontinue Five Experts outreach by contacting us using the information below.
Five Experts uses third-party payment providers, including Stripe, to process payments, subscriptions, payouts, and related transactions.
Payment providers process payment information according to their own privacy policies and security practices.
Five Experts may retain transaction records, including the amount paid, service purchased, payment status, and other information reasonably necessary for accounting, tax, customer-service, and legal purposes.
Five Experts and its service providers may use cookies and similar technologies to operate the website and platform, remember preferences, understand how our services are used, maintain security, and improve performance.
Some browsers provide “Do Not Track” signals or other privacy preference mechanisms. Because these mechanisms are not uniform, our response may depend on the technology involved and applicable law.
Where required by applicable law, Five Experts will recognize legally required browser-based privacy preference signals.
We may send Members, prospective Members, Experts, Candidates, business contacts, and others communications about Five Experts and our services where permitted by law.
You may unsubscribe from marketing emails using the unsubscribe link included in the message.
You may still receive transactional or service-related communications, such as account notices, billing information, security notices, or communications concerning an active engagement.
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including providing services, maintaining business and transaction records, complying with legal obligations, resolving disputes, protecting our rights, and enforcing agreements.
Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and why it was collected.
When information is no longer reasonably necessary, we may delete, anonymize, or securely dispose of it, subject to applicable legal requirements.
Five Experts uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information.
However, no website, platform, database, or electronic transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You should use appropriate care when providing information online and protect your account credentials.
Depending on where you live and applicable law, you may have rights concerning your personal information.
These may include the right to request:
access to certain personal information we maintain about you;
correction of inaccurate information;
deletion of certain information; or
information about how we collect, use, or disclose your personal information.
You may also unsubscribe from marketing communications and may request that Five Experts discontinue acquisition-related outreach to you.
Five Experts will honor privacy rights required by applicable law and may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests.
We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.
California residents may have additional rights under California privacy laws.
Depending on whether and to what extent a particular California privacy law applies to Five Experts, these rights may include the right to know about personal information collected, request correction or deletion, obtain information regarding disclosures, and exercise other rights provided by applicable law.
Five Experts does not sell personal information for money.
If Five Experts' practices change or applicable law requires additional rights concerning the sale or sharing of personal information, targeted advertising, sensitive personal information, or browser-based privacy signals, we will provide the required choices and update this Policy as appropriate.
California residents may submit a privacy request using the contact information in Section 15.
Five Experts is intended for adults and business professionals and is not directed to children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the Five Experts services. If we learn that we have collected such information without appropriate authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
Five Experts may use or link to third-party websites, platforms, payment processors, community platforms, data providers, or other services.
Those third parties operate under their own terms and privacy policies. Five Experts is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services that we do not control.
We may update this Privacy Policy as Five Experts, our technology, or applicable law changes.
When we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date above and provide additional notice when required by law.
